Recognizing Nursing Excellence, Quality Patient Care
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – For the second time, Clarian Health has been named a Magnet hospital system by the American Nurses Credentialing Center, recognizing excellence in nursing care at its downtown hospitals.
Magnet re-designation was awarded to Methodist Hospital, Indiana University Hospital and Riley Hospital for Children on Monday, May 18, after an exhaustive evaluation of its Nursing and Patient Care Services department, which had to satisfy a demanding set of criteria measuring the strength and quality of nursing care. The designation is the highest national honor an organization can receiving for professional nursing practice.
“Magnet designation is a highly coveted distinction for health care institutions, and it’s a tremendous accomplishment for the entire health care team at our downtown hospitals,” said Linda Q. Everett, PhD, RN, NEA-BC, FAAN, Executive Vice President and Chief Nurse Executive for Clarian. “Earning Magnet status for the second time is truly an accomplishment for our staff, proving once again that our staff is committed to the highest quality of care for our patients and their families.”
Fewer than 5 percent of hospitals nationwide have earned Magnet status. Clarian was initially designated a Magnet hospital system in 2004. Hospitals must earn redesignation every four years based on improvements in patient care and quality.
Magnet veri?es that Clarian’s downtown hospitals have proved they embrace a climate
of collaboration, cooperation and empowerment; and that every member of the health
care team has a role to play in making Clarian one of the nation’s bet places to work
and receive care.
